What We Offer
We provide everything your family needs to complete an in-person Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder in children, in underserved regions in North Florida. This is a collaborative process, involving caregivers/parents from the start, and we hope to be able to have a lasting relationship with you after we have completed the evaluation. Even if you ultimately decide not to move forward with an evaluation with us, we hope you find the educational materials on our website to be useful. Our mission is to provide early diagnosis for autism so that children can access early interventions when they will have the most positive impact for functional outcomes. We understand that this can be emotionally challenging for families, and it does involve a significant amount of detailed information. We invite you to explore the educational materials on our website, browse our F.A.Q.’s, and check out the links to best practice guidelines provided in our educational section before you make any decisions to proceed. If you do have questions that aren’t covered, reach out via email and we will try to respond in a timely manner. At this time, self-pay is the only option for our evaluations, and we are only primarily service children under the age of 5. If your child is aged 5-7, you may request an evaluation and we will contact you to determine if we are the right fit to evaluate your child.
-
Our intake forms are required to be completed before the coordination call can be scheduled. Only files that are fully complete can proceed to schedule an evaluation. Your right to privacy, confidentiality, releases of information, developmental social history forms, and other behavioral observation forms will need to be filled out by the child’s caregiver/parent before we can continue. This process is free, and your file will be saved if you need to pause and come back later.
-
After you submit your initial contact form to inquire about diagnostic services and complete the required intake forms, we will contact you with a link to schedule the initial coordination call with our Client Coordinator. This initial call will last for 20-30 minutes and is intended to help answer any questions you may have regarding the process, review additional paperwork needed, and schedule your child’s in-person evaluation. After you have scheduled, your coordinator will keep in touch with you via email, and this will be your primary contact so that the process runs smoothly. In order to schedule and hold your appointment for the CDE, a nonrefundable deposit of $500 will be required at the time of the call. We accept credit card payments, including those linked to FSAs and HSAs, but we are not able to accept insurance or Medicaid at this time. While this deposit is non-refundable, we will allow rescheduling to later dates if you cannot make your scheduled in-person appointment.

In person diagnostic evaluation conducted by a licensed clinical psychologist and a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) with over 30 years of combined experience in the early diagnosis and treatment of autism. This evaluation will contain all of the psychological tests and procedures required in order to confirm or rule out an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is the CDE that is required by Medicaid, Tricare, and most private insurance companies in order to access specialty therapies and early interventions for a young autistic child. The actual CDE report will contain the child’s identifying information, developmental history, behavioral observations, social communication/language description, problem behavioral analysis, test results and interpretive summaries, official ASD diagnosis and severity levels, clinical conclusions including differential diagnosis (when applicable), and detailed treatment recommendations.
This is NOT a screener. This will be the actual full evaluation. As such, it is important that you schedule this evaluation only after you have real reason to believe that your child does have ASD. Typically, a child’s pediatrician will refer the family for a CDE after screening tools have confirmed a high risk of ASD. Online, you will provide information and parent ratings that will be integrated into the child’s CDE report. This website contains frequently asked questions and educational materials for families. This is a costly out-of-pocket expense, and you should be relatively certain that your child has pervasive neurodevelopmental delays before you commit to paying for this evaluation.
You will bring your child to our clinical team, and you will be a part of the diagnostic process, present from beginning to end. After the intake is completed, you will schedule an initial assessment virtual call (20-30 minutes), during which we can schedule and collect the deposit for the actual diagnostic day.
The actual “diagnostic day” will take 1-2 hours, in person, at a location in North Central Florida. Our client coordinator will provide you with the exact location depending on when it is scheduled. Our goal is to provide access to underserved regions of North Central Florida. We realize even this may be a drive for some families (it is for us too!), and our scheduler will work with you to find an appointment that works best. When complete, you will receive the report that contains the CDE as well as initial treatment goals written by the BCBA and the neuropsychologist. You will be provided a link to schedule a consultation (virtual) with the BCBA when you receive the report. Our BCBA will give you detailed recommendations about what to do next. If you already know what your child needs (ex. you know your child needs ABA and plan to access it from a particular provider in your area, you just need the CDE to get it started), we will provide you with proper referrals. In many cases, the CDE report itself is enough to get everything else started.
You are entrusting us with the most important people in your life. This can be emotionally difficult for families. The process for the children is not difficult. Your children will be playing the whole time, and you will be in the room. There is nothing invasive. Don’t tell them you are going to the doctor, because we don’t want them to be afraid. They will play with us for a few minutes while we complete a bunch of detailed tests. You will have your fair share of paperwork to complete also, but your children will likely only have fun. Our clinicians work every day with autistic children and are prepared to help if their are problem behaviors.
-
Following the completion of your in-person evaluation, you will be scheduled for a remote follow-up consultation with our BCBA. This consultation will support you in reviewing and interpreting your child’s diagnostic report and help to guide you in your next steps. Our BCBA will continue to be available by appointment in the months ahead to help you access the early interventions that will help your children when they can benefit from it the most. We hope this is the beginning of a long collaborative relationship with your family.
-
Consultation appointments with our BCBA continue to be available after your child’s diagnosis. Navigating the new world of available services and getting your child the support they need can be challenging.
Consultation may be used to support you in managing your child’s behavior at home, learning how to teach or communicate effectively with your child, advocating within the school system, accessing services, and more.
Our Process
Parent Concern & Initial Contact
This service is a full comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder and will result in an extensive evaluation report that makes a conclusive diagnosis or rules it out. When a diagnosis is made, the CDE report meets all requirements and can be used to obtain insurance authorization for specialized services. This is not a screener. As such, you should be sure that a diagnosis is the next step for your child prior to contacting us to request an appointment. If you have not already, we recommend completing the M-CHAT assessment to determine the level of risk for your child. A referral from your child’s physician is not required to request an appointment with us.
Contact Us & Intake
Your first step is to complete our contact form to request an appointment. The initial form will include some introductory questions about your child. Based on this information, we will contact you with your next steps as quickly as possible. Your child’s information may need additional review and you may receive a phone call or email with additional questions before moving forward.
After confirming that we can serve your child and family, you will receive a link to our intake paperwork via email. This paperwork must be completed before you can schedule your Client Coordination call.
Client Coordination
You will be scheduled for a 20-30 minute Client Coordination call to review our process, paperwork completion, and to schedule your child’s in person evaluation. Your child does not need to be present for this call.
A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of this call to schedule your in-person evaluation.
In-Person Evaluation
Our mission is to provide diagnostic evaluations in areas where services are often difficult to access. As such, we pre-determine dates approximately 1-2 times per quarter that we will fill on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Your child’s evaluation will be scheduled for a 2-hour block to allow you enough time to complete additional questionnaires required to be part of a diagnosis. Your child’s appointment with our Psychologist and BCBA will last approximately 45 minutes to 1-hour.
Follow-Up Consultation
Included in our diagnostic package is a final consultation meeting with our BCBA to review your final report and discuss next steps. This is an opportunity to review any of your questions and begin guidance in initiating specialized services for your child. Consultations can also support you in how you interact with and support your child at home.
